Just like in life, timing and decisions can make all the difference. It’s not all about the career you choose. Although, some careers have more opportunities than other.
You still see people in less advantaged career fields that do very well based on their skills, work ethic, luck and timing.
I would find a friend or to with similar interests and see what happens, you may wind up going to the same building for the same career, but have different experiences.
I would avoid the part-time jobs, unless they are in addition to your full-time employment or you are going to school or gaining a skill. Just like in the real world.
