No.
The Rank used to be what is the current paygrade of O-7. The current rank is called a Rear Admiral Lower Half. This Rank wears a one star rank insignia, but over the years, it has been the custom for this rank to actually wear two stars, like the rear admiral Upper Half.
While the rank itself is not being used, Commodore is a designation granted to a Captain (O-6) who commands a fleet of ships or other similar responsibilites.
