I heard a rumor from someone who said that JJ abrams has been hired to produce a new Star Trek TV series that will air on CBS, and then the same episodes will air a week later in the late evening on SyFy.
The new series will take place in the period between the TOS(The original series) and TNG (The Next Generation).
The series is rumored to be about a group of star fleet and Klingon crew members that crash on a planet and are stranded. They do everything they can to stay alive and get rescued.
The show will feature flash backs about the lives of the crew members prior to the crash.
